If, like everyone else, you are also hooked onPokemonGo, you probably have tons of Pidgey, Rattata and too much Zubat. So when your friend at work says "I caughtCharmander!", or have you heard people say "I haveAerodactyl", you immediately think...
..where the hell are all these rare Pokemon!?
In an effort to answer this question, we've compiled a list of places where rare Pokémon have been spotted in Los Angeles. The list is based on our own hunting experiences, posts on Reddit, and dozens of Pokémon Go Facebook groups that have proliferated as Bellsprout.
Santa Monica Pier
Who: Dragonite, Dratini, Gastly, Hitmonlee, Gloom, Krabby, Squirtle, Electabuzz, Slowpoke, Magmar, Psyduck, Kabutops and many others
Just look at the list above: Santa Monica Pier is one of the best places to find rare Pokemon. More than a dozen baited PokéStops along the pier and waterfront attracted hundreds of Pokémon trainers every night until 2-3 a.m. last week. Thanks to Pokémon Go, it's once again safe to walk along the pier late at night when almost everyone is playing and shouting out the names of the rare Pokémon that appear along the pier. The pier is also ideal for water Pokemon: Seel, Shellder, Goldeen, Horsea, Magikarp, Tentacool, Krabby appeared here.
BeverlyHills
Who: Pikachu
Pikachu has been spotted several times in Beverly Hills, at the entrance of BVLGARI and near the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons. This is the coolest Pokemon.
La Brea Tar Pits
Who:
Charmander
Charmander loves to show up at La Brea Tar Pits because of the fire. So many La Brea Tar Pits were found here that the area was called a La Brea Tar Pits "nest", an area that consistently spawns a specific type of Pokémon.
ManhattanBeach
Who: Magmar
Polliwog Park is notable for its green hills, beautiful lakes and Magmar nests. Be on the lookout for a lot of Magmar walking around while you explore the PokéStop.
Disneyland andDowntown Disney
Who:
Squirtle, Kabuto, Goldeen, Exeggcute, Doduo
Disneyland is a true Mecca for Pokémon trainers, with PokéStops near almost every attraction, most with baits. You can catch Pokemon non-stop while you queue for rides. With parks nearby, trainers head to Downtown Disney, where there are over a dozen PokéStops.
Universal Studios andCityWalk
Who:
Abra, Eevee, Meowth, Venonat, Chansey
Dozens of PokéStops, often with lures. Your best bet is to stand next to the Globe Theater, although Abra has been spotted on the way to the Hard Rock.
Hollywood andHighland
Who:
Clefairy, Meowth, Vulpix, Kakuna, Onix
The elephant-shaped central courtyard has three lures, often lit, that attract rare Pokémon. You can battle at the nearby TCL Chinese Theater, a Pokemon gym; Clefairy spotted at Victoria's Secret mall.
Downtown LA
Who:
Meowth, Pinsir, Ponyta, Raticate, Rhyhorn, Venonat
You'll find them in Little Tokyo, which has dozens of PokéStops.
Long Beach
Who:
Seel, Shellder, Goldeen, Horsea, Magikarp, Tentacool
Long Beach and downtown attract several rare species, including aquatic Pokémon such as Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Dratini.
General advice: Although not officially proven, it is believed that rare species appear where there are many players, hence the high density of PokéSpots in places such as tourist attractions, theme parks (Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Knott's) and shopping malls (Grove in Hollywood or American in Glendale), promotes high activity of rare species.
Another tip: Since Niantic, the developers of the Nintendo game, has an office in Los Angeles, we're sure there will be some rare Pokemon there too.
1 billion downloads. As it turns out, the popularity of the game has influenced not only how we spend our free time, but also how we move around and plan trips. Recent research has shown that British youth are choosing to travel to cities where there are more Pokemon, and unknown villages are suddenly becoming top - due to hordes of Farfetchd wild ducks. How businesses, transport and even the police are adapting to the global Pokemon madness - read the article.
Travelers go to where the Pokemon are
More than half of young people choose a city for their next trip based on the number of Pokemon that live there, according to a study by Hotels.com. In a survey, a major booking site surveyed 500 UK millennials: 85% played Pokémon Go, and 55% of them had adjusted their next trip to catching Pokémon.
The most popular Poke destinations are New York (most monsters cluster around the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and the Empire State Building), Tokyo and Rome. Experts advise going to Sydney, San Francisco or Auckland, where the kangaroo-like Pokemon lives. In Honolulu, Hawaii, you can catch Exeggutor, a Pokemon with a coconut head. In Europe, the biggest chance to meet a monster is in Wolfsburg or at the VW-Arena. A rich catch awaits you too - it was there that a night hunt for Pokemon was organized for the first time in the world.
Unobvious locations suddenly tear up the tops
This, for example, happened with the South Korean city of Sokcho, where, due to a system error, the most Pokemon appeared in the world. Sokcho is located two hours away from. It is there that you can meet the Pokemon Farfetch'd, which is only available in Asia.
The locals, of course, were not at a loss and sent special Pokemon Go buses to Sokcho, which start from Seoul. The city has set up additional Wi-Fi zones and mobile stations to recharge phones, and local cafes and hotels are offering discounts to those who catch the most Pokemon.
Pokemon Go changes how transportation works
In the heat of catching the next monster, drivers crash into trees and even into patrol cars. The police perceive Pokémon Go as a serious security threat and are trying in every possible way to force people to be careful. For example, the official Twitter of the London Richmond Police even published a whole list of safety rules related to the application. Squirtle doesn't want you to swim in Thames !
Those who are most concerned about safety, but do not want to miss Pikachu, hire special poke drivers who drive the car while you catch monsters. In the USA, for example, they pay $15 per hour for this. Why not an idea for Uber?
But in the subway it is relatively safe to hunt Pokemon. The Los Angeles Metro even launched an official Pokémon Go twitter, which tells you where the rarest species are found and how to catch them.
They even organize round-the-world trips for Pokemon catchers.
The Timescenery website has compiled a route around the world in the footsteps of the Golden Pokeball Pokemon. All the fun costs $16,900 per person (at least two people can travel) - for hotels, concierges, car rental.
Pokemon help you get to know a place better
Because the game forces you to scour the streets of your own and unfamiliar cities, participants in the Hotels.com study agreed that Pokémon Go helps them get to know a new city much better than if they were just visiting it for a vacation. Thus, the official tourism portal of the city of Orlando even compiled a detailed
Recently, people have come to the Cambodian Banteay Srei temple not only to worship Shiva, but also to catch Mew. Connoisseurs remember that this Pokemon has always loved ancient ruins, and now it has completely settled in Cambodia.
Superclone Mew can only be caught in one place - in New York's Times Square. Many fans of the game even come here specifically, so don't be surprised when you see a crowd of people catching the legendary Mewtwo.
The largest glacier in Iceland has been chosen by Articuno, a legendary flying-type ice Pokémon. There are many legends about this creature - its wings are transparent, because they are woven from ice; when it flies, the air turns into snow, and Articuno appears to people lost in the snow-capped mountains. This is one of the most powerful ice Pokemon - you can go to conquer the peaks of Iceland for this.
Another of the three legendary bird Pokemon can be caught at various power plants around the world. Zapdos is an Electric-type Pokémon that can summon lightning by flapping its wings. When you get ready to catch this bird, think carefully about how to answer the question of why you are hanging around the power plant - Pokemon GO players are unlikely to be very happy here.
The third legendary bird, Moltres, lives in the mountains of Israel. True, catching her is not so easy - to do this you need to climb into the caves. But Moltres is worth it: he is able to heat the sky with his wings to a fiery red color.
A player lucky enough to be in Kyoto has a chance to become a very powerful Pokemon GO trainer if he catches the trio of legendary beasts. Entei, Suicune and Raikou meet together, but it takes some effort to capture them. Stock up on Pokeballs and prepare for the fact that the legendary beasts will not give up without a fight.
Kyoto is also home to another legendary Pokemon - the huge rainbow bird Ho-oh. To catch this mythological guardian of the skies, climb to the top of the temple. It is believed that this is a good alternative to Moltres - Ho-Oh is capable of literally destroying an enemy with one flap of his wings, he is also flying and also fiery.
To make sure all Pokemon GO fans rush for tickets to Kyoto, we’ll reveal another secret of this place: in the stunningly beautiful bamboo grove lives Celebi, the voice of the forest. And this, by the way, is another excuse to visit this fabulously beautiful place (just look at its photographs!).
These islands are one of the furthest places from the mainland where people live. And it was precisely this exotic place that Lugia, the guardian of the seas, chose. Perhaps, if not for the game, many people would never have known about the existence of this archipelago, but now tourists have appeared here who have traveled a huge distance to catch Lugia.
There are at least two reasons to climb to the very top of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai: firstly, it is the tallest building in the world, and secondly, Rayquaza lives here. It is unlikely that you will have a second chance to catch this legend - he almost always flies behind the clouds, in the ozone layer. But if you're lucky, rest assured that Rayquaza will tear anyone apart.
If it so happens that there is a volcano near you, do not miss the opportunity to get the fire-breathing Groudon into your team. This is one of the most powerful earth Pokémon - such an acquisition will not hurt any trainer.
The popular app game Pokemon GO is taking over the world! Pokemon catchers with their smartphones take to the streets and bring chaos to the lives of ordinary citizens. Recently, Australian fans of Pokemon GO disrupted the life of a large residential complex in Sydney. The matter ended with police intervention.
The other day, late in the evening, in Sydney's Peg Paterson Park area, near the large Rhodes residential complex, about three hundred fans of the new Pokemon GO mobile application gathered. As it turned out, in the Rhodes area, the game creators placed three stations where participants could get the game artifacts they needed. Despite the dead of night, the crowd was so noisy that the residents of the apartment complex had to call the police, and the most determined even threw water bombs at the Pokemon hunters from the windows.
The arriving police called on the crowd to disperse, and the players obediently scattered, heading to other places where they could find virtual Pokemon. According to police, the crowd behaved peacefully, although they had to issue several fines to those who continued to play while driving the car.
This is not the first time that the Pokemon GO app has caused problems for the police. Unlike most computer games, it is played not at a table, but on the streets, and they play with passion, forgetting about everything. Police officers in the USA, Australia and New Zealand are already tired of reminding Pokemon catchers that in the excitement of the game they should not forget about the real world - for example, jumping out onto the road in pursuit of Pokemon, playing while driving or distracting the driver if they are traveling as passengers.
Children's advocates are also dissatisfied with the game: as it turns out, chasing Pokemon takes young players to places where they clearly shouldn't go. A respectable residential complex in Sydney is just the beginning! The game has already sent players in Australia and New Zealand to a clinic where drug users receive methadone maintenance therapy, to a brothel, to an escort agency, to a biker nightclub with a bad reputation, to a nudist beach, as well as to a well-known place for informal meetings of gays, where men make love in cars. So social services urge parents to be vigilant.
And in the United States, players faced opposition from museum workers. The fact is that in American cities, the creators of game routes offer app users to catch Pokemon in places that are not intended for this at all - for example, on the territory of the September 11 memorial complex, at the Holocaust Museum and at the Arlington Memorial Cemetery. The administration of the Holocaust Museum is already trying to contact the developers to exclude the museum from the list of game locations.
But the most adept at adapting to the features of the new product were four teenagers from St. Louis, America. They carried out several robberies by tracking potential victims using geolocation tools built into the app and waiting for them in secluded areas that promised a good harvest of Pokemon. They managed to rob more than a dozen people before the police caught them. So calls for Pokemon GO fans to remain vigilant are perhaps not without reason.
