After Elena breaks up with the one who won her heart, she begins to lead a vicious lifestyle: a lot of strangers, a lot of sex, a lot of alcohol, endless parties.
But this does nothing to heal her heart. On top of that, the girl loses her close friend, whom she always treasured...
And at the most desperate moment in her life, Leo appears again. But even now, treacherous fate is preparing trials for them. After all, the man is hiding from Elena one extremely important circumstance from his past life...
Italian duology
For all sins
Linda is an independent, self-sufficient, successful and attractive person. Everything in her life is going well: great job, harmony in her soul, money...
Tommaso is gloomy, cynical and unshakable, like granite. He is wealthy, handsome, but there is emptiness in his heart, because he always rejected feelings, believing that they would interfere with his work.
Their acquaintance is a storm that will plunge both of them into an incredible whirlpool of emotions, difficult choices, secrets... So what choice will the main characters make?
For all the love
The spectacular and self-confident Linda could not even think that someday she would leave everything for a man, live in another country at his expense, without friends and a career.
And she certainly couldn’t even think that now she would have to attend social events in the role of a devoted girlfriend of a diplomat.
Perhaps moving to Lisbon to live with Tommaso was a wrong move? Maybe her lover is not as good as she thought?

Irene Kao - biography
Irene Cao is an Italian contemporary writer who works in the erotic-dramatic genre. Irene was born on September 10, 1979 in the Italian city of Pordenone. In 1998, the girl moved to Venice, where she entered the Faculty of Classical Literature. After graduating in 2002, Kao decided to get a doctorate in ancient history and devote her life to science. She works hard on her dissertation, and in 2007, on the eve of her defense, the idea of her first book, “The Italian Trilogy,” comes to her.
However, Irene came to literary creativity after some time. She managed to work as an assistant at a university, as well as a teacher of humanities at a lyceum.
Irene has been partial to literature since childhood. From time to time she composed various stories, but began serious writing work in 2008, starting to create the “Italian Trilogy” - a story of sensual and vibrant love (the sequence of books in the cycle - “I look at you”, “I feel you”, “I love you"). This series was first published in 2013 and immediately gave the author enormous popularity and recognition. During the first year, more than 350 thousand copies were sold in Italy.
This epic is considered the best book by a modern writer. This work was the first work of an erotic nature in Italian literature. It was subsequently published in fourteen countries and often appeared high in reader ratings. This series is often compared to the work “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but Irene considers her work deeper. According to her, it contains not only eroticism, but also the beauty of romantic relationships, as well as an appeal to Italian art and culture. The author put not only her soul into the book, but also the knowledge gained during her studies and doctoral research. In her opinion, this work is perfect for intelligent people who want to feel the most subtle facets of feelings and let their emotions out.
In 2014, the next work of the Italian writer, entitled “Dilogy of Vices,” was published. The main characters of the work, in search of their happiness, cross all sorts of boundaries and break all patterns. This is exactly what, according to the author, true love should be - free from stereotypes and conventions, supported by uncontrollable passion. This work also gained popularity abroad.
In 2016, the writer’s next work was published - the off-cycle erotic novel “Every Breath You Take.” This time Irene shows the “hot” life in Ibiza with sensual dancing, incredible passion and metamorphoses of love that can turn an ardent feeling into hatred and betrayal.
All of Irene Kao's books are a journey through the streets of Italy, inhaling its aromas and contemplating its beauties. Each work of the novelist is replete with descriptions of Italian nature, architecture, traditions and customs - Irene puts her love for her homeland into her books with all her heart. The writer believes that creativity helps to better express feelings and affections than any words. The main condition for creating works for Kao is sincerity and the desire to describe the most realistic scenes in which readers recognize themselves. That is why the author’s erotic sketches are devoid of “special effects”. Irene admits that it was not easy for her to describe such scenes. In order for them to be devoid of vulgarity, vulgarity and pretense, you need to completely abstract yourself from the audience for whom you are writing, and tune in only to the emotional component, listen to your feelings and convey emotions on paper. According to the writer, it was as if she was watching her characters with a video camera, recording all their actions and trying to display thoughts and dialogues.
Irene Kao is a very sensual and romantic person, so her works are sincere and lively. She dreams that in the future she will start making films and will definitely film her works. The writer's hobbies include classical literature, travel, cycling and dance (Kao claims that dance once saved her life). In life, Irene is an optimist, striving for positive emotions and new experiences. In her opinion, only those who go through life with their eyes and hearts wide open, as well as gratitude for everything that happens to them, are happy.
Those who are looking for heartfelt erotic literature, filled with the beauty of artistic expression and depth of feelings, are advised to pay attention to the works of this author. In our virtual library you can read books by Irene Kao online absolutely free. I look at you
Dedicated to Manuel, my brother
The bright yellow hue absorbs the sunlight, fades to orange and then dissolves into ruby red, where a wound-like cut reveals small grains of purple gloss. I haven't taken my eyes off this pomegranate for several hours now. He is just a detail, but serves as the key to the entire fresco.
Its plot is the abduction of Proserpina [Proserpina ( lat. Proserpina) - in ancient Roman mythology, the goddess of the underworld, corresponding to the ancient Greek Persephone, daughter of Jupiter and Ceres, niece and wife of Pluto.]. That moment when the gloomy ruler of the underworld, Pluto, dressed in a purple cloud of his clothes, forcefully grabbed the goddess, who was collecting large pomegranates on the shore of the lake, by the loins.
The fresco is not signed - the name of the author is shrouded in mystery. I only know that he lived at the beginning of the 17th century and, judging by his writing style, color fragments and delicate play of light and shadow, he was a real genius. Each stroke is applied impeccably, and my task is not to spoil the artist’s efforts to achieve perfection, to understand his creativity and convey it in my work.
...My task is not to spoil the artist’s efforts to achieve perfection, to understand his creativity and convey it in my work.
This is the first restoration I'm working on on my own. At 29 years old, this kind of work is a huge responsibility, and I am proud of it. I have been waiting for such a chance since I graduated from the school of restorers, and now that luck has smiled on me, I will do everything to justify it.
That’s why I’ve been sitting on a stepladder for several hours in a row in a white oilcloth overalls and a red bandana holding my dark bob of hair (but some strands still get out and fall into my eyes), and motionlessly look at the wall. Fortunately, there are no mirrors around, because there are probably signs of fatigue and circles under my eyes on my face. It doesn't matter - this is proof of my stubbornness.
At some point I look at myself from the outside: here I am, Elena Volpe, alone in the huge front hall of the ancient and long-uninhabited palazzo [Palazzo ( lat. palatium - palace) - Italian city palace-mansion of the 15th–18th centuries], in the very heart of Venice. And this is where I want to be.
I've been cleaning the background of the mural all week and today I'll try the color for the first time. A week is a long time, probably too much, but I didn’t want to risk it. You need to move forward with the utmost caution, because one wrong move can ruin the whole job. As one of my teachers said: “If you clean up well, then half the work is done.”
Some parts of the fresco are completely destroyed, and I have no choice but to plaster them again. The omnipresent humidity of Venice has an effect, penetrating even into granite, bricks and wood. But there are others around the damaged fragments where the colors have retained their brightness.
...The omnipresent humidity of Venice even penetrates into granite, bricks and wood.
This morning, as I climbed up the stepladder, I said to myself: “There’s no way I’m going downstairs until I find the tone for this pomegranate.” Now I realize that perhaps I was too optimistic... I can't imagine how long I've been trying the whole palette of red, yellow and orange colors without any satisfactory result. I have already thrown away eight containers in which I mixed pigment crumbs with a small amount of water and a drop of olive oil to give consistency. And as I began to dilute the paint in the ninth cup, I heard a bell. It came from the pocket of my overalls. Alas! It was useless to ignore the call of the mobile phone. Almost falling down the stairs, I grabbed the phone and read the name that was flashing on the display.
This is Gaia, my best friend.
Ele, how are you? I'm in Piazza Santa Margherita. Come, let's have a drink at Il Rosso! Today there are more people here than usual, which is just great! Come quickly! “She speaks in one breath, without even asking if it’s convenient for me to talk, and without giving me the opportunity to answer.
This is all Gaia. She organizes concerts and VIP parties in the most fashionable establishments of the city and the entire Veneto region [Veneto ( italian. Veneto) is one of the administrative regions of Italy, in the northeast of the country.]. Work begins at four o'clock in the afternoon and continues until late at night. She loves social gatherings, and for her they are not just a job - they are a calling: I bet that she would even work for free.
Listen, what time is it? - I ask, trying to stop the flow of her words.
Half past six. Well, are you coming?
My God, it's so late?! Time flew by completely unnoticed.
Hey Ele, are you there? Everything is fine? Say something! - Gaia screams, and her voice crashes into my eardrums. - You've gone completely crazy with this fresco of yours. Come here immediately! That's an order!
Il Rosso is a bar where young Venetian slackers meet, the type of people who need someone like Gaia to figure out how to spend an evening.
Gaia, I’ll finish in half an hour, I promise,” I take a deep breath, “...but I’ll go home.” Don't be angry, please.
I’m not angry, of course, you bastard, that’s all! - she snorts.
As always. This is our usual role play, in two seconds she will be calm and happy again. Fortunately, she quickly forgets my refusals.
Listen, you can go home, relax, and later we’ll go to the Fifth Mall, I have two invitations to the Prive club...
Thank you for your concern, but I don’t want to go through this hell at all,” I quickly answer before she continues. But she knows very well that I hate crowds, that I hardly drink, and that dancing for me comes down, at best, to tapping my foot to the beat (and I beat this beat in my own way). All this entertainment is not for me, I am constantly shy and feel out of place. But Gaia doesn’t give up, every time she tries to drag me to one of her parties. In fact, although I will never admit it, I am grateful to her for these attempts.
Well, have you finished working yet? - I ask, trying to divert the conversation away from dangerous topics.
Yeah, today I was just lucky, I accompanied a Russian business lady. We looked at bags and leather boots at Bottega Veneta for three hours, and then I took her to Balbi and there Madame finally decided to buy two Murano glass vases. By the way, at Alberta Ferretti I saw several dresses from their new collection - well, just like they were made for you! Beige, it will look amazing with the chocolate shade of your hair... Let's come in sometime and you can try them on!
When she's not busy telling people what to do in the evenings, Gaia is telling them how to spend their money, she's a shopping consultant of sorts. This is the type of woman who has her own opinion about everything and great ability to convince others. So big that there are even people willing to pay to be convinced of something. However, her abilities do not affect me - over twenty-three years of friendship, I have developed immunity.
Of course we'll go. True, it will all end with you, as usual, buying them for yourself.
But sooner or later I will be able to dress you up decently. Mind you, I'm not done with you yet!
Gaia has been struggling with my, shall we say, casual clothing style since our teenage years. For her, jeans and flat shoes are not at all a convenient alternative to other outfits. She believes that such a choice can only be ashamed. According to Gaia, I should wear a miniskirt and high heels to work every day. And it doesn’t matter that I climb up a stepladder several times a day and spend hours in a position that can hardly be called comfortable anyway. “If I had your legs...” she repeats all the time. And every time she repeats the saying of Coco Chanel: “You must always be elegant, every day, because fate may be waiting for you around the corner.” Gaia herself will never leave the house until she puts on makeup, dresses up and styles her hair.
...Gaia likes to repeat Coco Chanel's saying: "You must always be elegant, every day, because fate may be waiting for you around the corner."
Sometimes I'm surprised how different we are from each other; and if Gaia weren't my best friend, I probably wouldn't stand her.
Well, okay, Ele,” she returns to her favorite topic as if nothing had happened, “tonight you must definitely come to the Mall.”
Gaia, don't be offended. But I already told you that I can’t! “When she’s so persistent, it gets on my nerves.”
Well, Bob Sinclair will be there!
Who is this? - I ask, and the inscription on my forehead lights up: “FILE NOT FOUND.”
Gaia sighs in despair.
Well, he's a French DJ, he's famous. He was on the jury at the Venice Film Festival last week...
Got it!
And also,” she continues, “reliable sources have informed me that various celebrities will be at the Prive tonight, including... listen carefully,” she makes a theatrical pause, “Samuel Belotti!”
No! Cyclist from Padua? - I groan in despair, in an absolutely disapproving tone.
This is one of the "famous" fans of Gaia, whom she left in large numbers on her way throughout Italy and even around the world.
It's him!
I don’t understand at all what you see in him: he’s a self-confident cretin, and what’s so amazing about him?
Gaia and I also have different tastes in men.
Well, I know he’s amazing,” she giggles.
I wrote him a text message. He hasn’t answered yet, because now he has some kind of model,” she sighs, “though he hasn’t completely turned me off, so I’m not giving up... I think he’s just playing for time.
I don’t know where you even find such types, and I don’t want to know!
Work, dear. Just work,” she answers me, and I can perfectly imagine the ambiguous smile on her face at that moment. - Public relations, as you know, is very hard work.
The words “labor” and “work” take on a completely different meaning in your mouth - I’m trying to provoke her, hiding my slight envy. I admit, I would agree to at least be like her in this. I am too correct and responsible, and she is the personification of lightness and daring carelessness.
...I am too correct and responsible, and she is the personification of lightness and daring carelessness.
Ele, you don't value me. My best friend doesn't appreciate me! - Gaia laughs.
Okay, listen, go to the Mall, have fun. And be careful not to overwork yourself, my dear!
You always refuse! But I won’t leave you alone and I’ll still bother you, you know. I won't give up, darling...
And I understand perfectly well that such a small theater is just our way of saying how much we love each other.
Now is really a very unfortunate moment: I can’t walk until late, otherwise I simply won’t wake up tomorrow morning.
Well, okay, this time I'll let you win.
Finally!
But promise me,” she continues, “we’ll see each other this weekend!”
I swear. Since Saturday I'm all yours!
* * *
The ninth container with a solution of a red Titian shade can also be thrown away: I brought a fragment of color to the pomegranate peel - it doesn’t even come close. And I resign myself to the fact that I will have to start all over again, but I am distracted by the noise behind me. Someone has entered from the main entrance and is climbing the marble stairs. These are clearly male steps, but there was a moment when I shuddered at the thought that it was Gaia who decided to arrange a surprise. I climb down from the stepladder, trying not to trip over the cups of paint that are scattered on the protective sheet covering the floor.
The front door opened, and the frail figure of Jacopo Brandolini, the owner of the palazzo and my customer, appeared on the threshold.
“Good evening,” I greet with a forced smile.
“Good evening, Elena,” he smiles back. - How is the work going? - He lowers his eyes to the scattered cups of solution, tying the sleeves of the sweater thrown over his shoulders (surely it’s made of cashmere).
Very good, - I’m lying and I’m surprised at my spontaneity, but I have no desire to explain to him details that he won’t understand anyway. (And I should add something purely professional.) - Just yesterday I finished cleaning and from today I can start coloring.
Great. I really hope for you, everything is in your hands. “He looks from the floor to me, his small blue eyes like cracks in the ice. - As you know, I value this fresco very much and would like to see it displayed in its best form. Although it is not signed, the hand of the master is immediately visible in it.
It was, without a doubt, written by a real genius,” I nod.
Brandolini smiles with satisfaction. He is forty years old, but he looks a little older. He has an old surname - he is a descendant of one of the most famous aristocratic families of Venice - and Jacopo himself looks antique. Thin, with snow-white skin, a nervous angular face, ash-white hair. But Jacopo dresses like an old man. Or rather, his clothes take on a strange look, as if they are becoming retro. For example, now he’s wearing Levi’s jeans and a blue short-sleeve shirt, but he’s drowning in them, he’s so thin. There is something old-fashioned about him himself - you can’t explain it. Although they say that he is popular with women. It seems to me simply because he is very rich - I can’t find any other explanation.
So how did you get settled here? - he asks, looking around to check if everything is in its place.
Very good,” I pull off my bandana, because I understand that I look completely unpresentable.
If you need anything - anything - ask Franco. You can even send him for the necessary material.
Franco is the caretaker of the palazzo, a stocky and very handsome man, he is quiet and tactful. In ten days of work, I crossed paths with him only twice: in the patio garden, while he was watering the agapanthus, and at the front door, where he was getting ready to polish a brass handle. He never goes into the palazzo, he always works outside and leaves about two o'clock in the afternoon. His presence has a calming effect on me.
I’m doing great on my own, thank you,” I belatedly realize that my answer sounds too harsh and bite my tongue.
Brandolini raises his hands, pretending to give up.
Well, so,” he clears his throat, “I came in to tell you that starting tomorrow there will be a new guest at the palazzo.
Guest?
No. This is impossible. I'm not used to working in an environment where someone is walking around me and distracting me.
His name is Leonardo Ferrante, a famous Sicilian chef,” he explains smugly. - He will fly directly from New York to open our new restaurant in San Paolo [San Paolo ( Italian San Polo, lit. St. Paul) is one of the six historical districts of Venice. Located in the center, between the districts of San Marco and Santa Croce.]. Opening in three weeks.
Together with his father, Count Brandolini runs two restaurants in Venice. One is behind Piazza San Marco [Piazza San Marco ( Piazza San Marco), or St. Mark's Square, is the main city square of Venice.], and the second, smaller one, is next to the Rialto Bridge [Rialto Bridge ( Italian Ponte di Rialto) is the very first and oldest bridge across the Grand Canal in Venice, one of the symbols of the city.]. The Brandolini family also has a restaurant in Los Angeles, as well as two private clubs, a cafe and a rental residence. Last year they opened locations in Abu Dhabi and Istanbul. Simply put, their photographs often appear in the pages of the tabloid press, which Gaia loves so much. I absolutely don’t give a damn about all this secularity, and the last thing I need is any kind of distracting person in the space where I work.
We worked hard to get everything ready as quickly as possible. You know that Venetian logistics is not at all helpful to us,” he continues, not noticing my dissatisfaction. - But you see, when you really want something, no effort is a burden.
Now he will also teach me about life! I nod my head mechanically; The thought of having to work while unknown people are walking around the palazzo greatly irritates me. Well, how can Brandolini not understand how delicate my work is?! The slightest interference disrupts the necessary concentration.
...The thought of having to work while unknown people are walking around the palazzo greatly irritates me. Well, how can Brandolini not understand how delicate my work is?!
You'll see, you'll get along great with Leonardo, he's very nice.
Yes, I have no doubt, the problem here is...
He doesn't let me finish.
You see, I couldn’t place him in a lifeless hotel room,” he continues with the confidence of those who never ask anyone’s permission. - Leonardo is a free artist, he will feel at home here. He will be able to cook whenever he wants, have breakfast late at night and dinner in the evening, read a book in the garden and enjoy the view of the Grand Canal [Grand Canal ( Italian Canal Grande is the most famous canal in Venice.]from the balcony.
I just wanted to draw his attention to the fact that the front entrance is connected to the rest of the areas of the palazzo and there is no way to get around it. This means that this guy will walk past me a hundred times a day anyway. But Brandolini already knows this very well, and it seems that he doesn’t care about it. God, I'm going to be hysterical now!
How long will he stay here, this chef? - I ask in the hope of receiving an encouraging answer.
At least two months.
Two month? - I echo, no longer worrying about hiding my irritation.
Yes, two months, maybe more: until the restaurant starts working on its own. - The Count again adjusts the sweater on his shoulders and looks at me decisively. - I hope this is not a problem for you? - he asks, clearly hinting that “it’s either this way or not at all.”
Well, if there are no other options... - now it’s my turn to express to him “I don’t like this at all, but I’ll have to put up with it.”
That’s great, then all I can do is wish you a good job,” he gives me an elegant hand in farewell. - Goodbye, Elena.
Goodbye, Count.
Please call me Jacopo.
Is he trying to sweeten the pill by reducing the distance between us? I smile tightly.
Goodbye Jacopo.
As soon as Brandolini leaves, I sit down on the red velvet sofa that stands against one of the walls. I was so nervous that I completely lost inspiration. I can't stand it! I don't want to know anything about his restaurant or his award-winning chef, and I don't care about an Arabian Nights-themed opening party. I just want to work calmly, alone, in silence - is this an exorbitant demand?
I run my fingers through my hair and look at the containers full of dry tempera - they look like a reminder of my failure.
Damn the mural! It’s already seven-thirty, the working mood has evaporated. Enough. Tired. I'll go home.
I step outside and am enveloped in the sweet humidity of October. It's already cool in the evenings. The sun has almost completely set behind the Lagoon, the street lights are burning. I walk quickly along the streets, my thoughts are confused. It seems that they are trapped in the dusty hall of the palazzo, and, I'm afraid, they will remain there for a long time... Both my mother and Gaia say that when something is spinning in my head, I become absent-minded, flying in the clouds. It’s true, I always happily lose myself in my thoughts and let them take me far away... And I don’t intend to give up this habit of running away from reality. I like to walk alone around the city, when my legs carry me and my mind remains free.
